Charlie is a happy, playful chihuahua who is utterly terrified of new things. He settles easily and quickly into a new home and new routine but does not enjoy the process of meeting new people, or going new places. SOMETHING happened to him and he’s 1000% afraid of change.
The good news is that Charlie will become your velcro dog as soon as you confidently show him that there’s no reason to fear. Just scoop him up. He’ll snarl and snap, then stop. Right away. (He can take a little longer with men than with women).
Charlie does not have any separation anxiety, but he will bark if other dogs in the home start to bark. He likes small dogs but is untrusting of bigger dogs and will bark and growl at them (while keeping his distance).
Fully house-trained & can use a dog doog, knows basic commands, eats well and sleeps quietly through the night. He has some fear-based leash reactivity and would prefer to walk at a time or place where he won’t run into a lot of other dogs or people, especially big dogs or men.
We recommend that Charlie be in a home with adults, no kids. He needs someone with patience to take things at his pace so as not to overwhelm him. He likes to have choice.
