Alex has been with us for a couple of weeks now and we have gotten to know him much better. Alex is very shy of new people, especially men and it takes him some time to allow a man to approach and give him pets. He has also encountered a lot of children on his walks and is extremely insecure and fearful of them and will try to hide, especially if there is more than one child, so he needs to be in an adult only home.
Alex is still learning leash training and has improved since his first week, but can still become scared of loud noises or fast movements and will pancake on the floor. Inside the foster home he is doing amazing, he has grown confident and adores his foster so much so that he no longer wants to spend anytime inside his crate so we are working to get him to feel more comfortable with this, as well as working on some mild separation anxiety. He does need another dog as a role model, but is not comfortable with dogs that are larger than him so he needs a dog that is around his size or smaller.
