Angela

- Breed: Chihuahua
- Female / 10 months as of Feb / 5 lbs
Angela is a very loving, affectionate little dog who wants to be close to her person and be part of everyday life. She loves hanging out with you while you work on your computer, watch TV, or relax at home, and she especially loves burrowing under blankets. She is sweet, playful, smart, and learns quickly. She has already shown that she can build confidence with new things over time. She is good in the car.
In a home, Angela does best with someone who understands that she is still learning and adjusting. She is still working on potty training and will need patience, routine, and positive reinforcement. She can also be vocal at times, especially when she smells human food or cannot be near her person, like during shower time. She has a playful, active side, so she may do best as the only dog or with a younger dog that enjoys that kind of energy.
Angela did experience abuse in the past and suffered a skull fracture, so there is no question that she has been through trauma. When she was first rescued from being euthanized, she would spin almost constantly and was wobbly and off balance. With time and love, she gained trust and strength every day. She is currently on a steroid, and her neurologist explained that there is still some uncertainty about the full underlying cause of her condition and what her long-term prognosis will be though we remain optimistic as she is gaining strength and balance every day.
At the same time, the doctor said Angela is bright, aware, mentally normal, and stable overall, which is very encouraging. She has a lot of love to give and could do very well in the right home with patience, support, and understanding.
