Gambit

Gambit is a super loving, cuddly, “get in inside your skin” kind of dog. He has that classic Italian Greyhound personality of bonding strongly with his person and wanting to be as close to you as he can be at all times.

He loves to sleep under the covers, pressed up against your or between your legs, and he’ll sleep quietly near by during your work day. When you come home his whole body vibrates with joy and he’ll zoom around the room, often making funny grumbling/talking noises to let you know how happy he is. He’s mostly figured out kisses but you can expect a pointy snoot boop in the eye more than anything when he’s expressing his love.

Gambit enjoys a walk in a quiet area where he has the time to sniff and pee on as much stuff as he can. He does well with other small dogs, especially if they are confident/unbothered so he can follow their lead when he’s not sure about something. If you leash him in your yard for potty times, you’ll get better results than just letting him out, he’ll just come and try to sit on your lap!

Gambit is nervous in new places and with new people. His anxiety isn’t destructive but he will retreat to his safe place (a crate!) or sometimes hide under the bed. He will probably take a little while to get comfortable in a new home (but it’ll be worth it!)

He does not feel safe around men, we assume he has a history of abuse. He would do best in a low traffic home with a female guardian who is home often, and no kids.

Gambit is highly food motivated and enjoys cheese, bacon, greenies, air dried chicken treats, and deli meat like sliced turkey.

BITE HISTORY – Gambit was very fearful when we first got him
