Meet Kara the under bite queen! She was taken to the shelter as a stray and was seen in her kennel shaking at the noises around her and questioning her surroundings. Once away from the craziness of the shelter kennel area she started to calm down. Although she is a little shy when first meeting people, she becomes easily opens up and becomes a love bug. A few months back Kara jumped from 3 stories high when she saw a dog walking below, she had 3 broken legs, torn ligaments, and through this has suffered esophageal stricture. (a narrowing of the esophagus, the passageway from the throat to the stomach. Stomach acid, accidentally swallowed harsh chemicals, and other irritants may injure the esophageal lining, causing inflammation (esophagitis) and the formation of scar tissue) Kara went through a tough recovery and strugged with weight loss due to her notbeig able to hold down food. She has since gotten her casts off and has returned to a healthy weight. She had surguries to open the esophagus enough for her to eat comfortably but she still h as problem eating regular kibble so she will need soft/wet/blended food indefinitely. Despite all that Kara’s been through she remains a loving, smart gem and has been waiting for someone to finally pick her. She loves people and getting attention, she’ll do her best to fit in your lap with her long baby deer legs for a quick nap. She still gets a little excited on leash but is eager to please so is easily corrected. Kara would also do well in a home with older children or other calm dogs.
Kara needs to be protected from situations where she might get at hard food that would be difficult for her to swallow so she’s going to need to be protected from getting into the trash or picking up food from the ground. When she is left alone she needs to be in a secure area where she cannot get at contraband food!
Kara can be needy but very affectionate. She oves visitors and friends alike and followers her favorite humans around. She’s great with dogs met in a neutral environment with the exception of huskies and german shepherds.
