Lyra is a playful and affectionate little lap dog who is looking for someone that has a secure yard in a nice quiet neighborhood and, wait for it, a big window to look out of (a closed secure one that is). We discovered she absolutely loooooves looking out on the world and it helps her separation anxiety a ton. Lyra also needs another well-adjusted dog in the house that she can learn from and a person with the time and willingness to work with her and keep her on the right track. She is fully house trained and even lets her foster know when she has to go out potty. However, she does prefer to use the privacy of the yard and won’t go on walks for potties. She is leash trained though and is very happy when it’s time to go out for her quiet strolls, but she is a little shy with too much commotion but it doesn’t take long at all for her to warm up as long as you give her some space and go slow. We know that Lyra is good with kids, but it’s best for her to be in a home with one or two older children ages 10 and up that can understand that she can be nervous and timid in some new situations.

While Lyra loves belly rubs, cuddling, her people, playing fetch and gets along well with kids and other dogs, one thing she doesn’t like is the crate. She will go in there for a nap or to eat but doesn’t like the door being closed. Lyra will make a wonderful family pet for anyone willing to continue helping her blossom. She LOVES to play, whether with toys, another dog or even a cat. 🙂
