Mia is a 3yr old Maltese mix, and weighs about 18lbs. She’s housebroken, good with kids as long as they are gentle. She walks well on leash and loves to cuddle in your arms. She is pretty skittish and under socialized, but not aggressive. Mia is very shy when meeting new people so patience is key, a home that can help her build confidence and teach her that the world isn’t a scary place would be ideal.
Foster update: She’s been a joy in our home so far, and we are so grateful to be able to foster little Mia. She’s been great getting used to our apartment. On the first 2 days, she did not bark once. When I opened the window today, she heard more sounds (I.e other dogs in my apartment barking, sounds of doors closing) and barked at the loud noises until I calmed her down. She loves to go on walks; she’ll get hyped and patiently let’s you put the leash on her. However, she gets nervous when in an elevator, and at any point during the walk, if she hears loud noises (buses passing by or construction work) she’ll want to run as far as possible & have her tail down for the rest of the walk. We are currently also teaching her a few basic commands; it did not seem like she knew any when we first brought her in. Overall, she is a very gentle and sweet house dog. We love having her in our home. We are slowly trying to get her used to the loud noises and still trying to get her socialized with other dogs.
